
Balazs Simonyi (August 19, 1980, Budapest, Hungary) is a European Film Award shortlisted filmmaker. He graduated in Literature & Film & Art Theory (Aesthetics), and is completing his PhD also in Art Theory. He works as a director and producer since 2002. His films have been screened at major festivals, from Cannes to Cracow, from Seattle to Clermont-Ferrand and Seoul.
He has won several awards, like the CamerImage, the Audience Award at Asiana Film Festival, and the French Cinema Distributors' (GRAC) prize. His films has been broadcasted all over in Europe, and the short films in the USA and Japan. He is also an organizer and selector of the Budapest Short Film Festival (BuSho).

He used to be the Hungarian voice of Bart Simpson in The Simpsons, but quit the role in 2018 following the death of Homer's voice actor, Székhelyi József. He’s replaced by Tamás Markovics after József’s death.
