The Life & Adventures of Santa Claus is a 1985 Christmas stop motion animated television special produced by Rankin/Bass Productions based on the 1902 children's book The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus by L. Frank Baum (Creator of The Wizard of Oz). The special first aired December 17, 1985 on CBS. This was Rankin/Bass's final "Animagic" stop motion animated special produced in Japan. Future specials and series would be traditionally animated from this point on.
At a council convened by The Great Ak, the forest being tells the story of Santa Claus to explain why he deserves to made immortal.
