Vittorio Amandola

Vittorio Amandola (November 4, 1952, Perugia, Umbria, Italy - July 22, 2010, Rome, Lazio, Italy) was an Italian actor, known for L'ultimo bacio (2001), Il mostro (1994) and Queen of Hearts (1989). He died of cancer in Rome on July 22, 2010, nearly three months before his 58th birthday. The Italian voices of Smithers and Yosemite Sam were passed on to Pasquale Anselmo and Pierluigi Astore, respectively.

Amandola was busiest dubbing cartoons, lending his voice to Goofy for nine years and to Yosemite Sam for four. He was the original Italian voice of Smithers on The Simpsons and also dubbed Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast, Chef Louis in The Little Mermaid, Molt in A Bug's Life, the title character in My Neighbor Totoro, Turbo on Go-Bots, Roy Hess on Dinosaurs. and General Rogarde in The Iron Giant. Live-action dubbing included Willem Dafoe in Cry-Baby, Maury Chaykin in Mouse Hunt, Rob Reiner in Dickie Roberts: Ex-Child Star, Alun Armstrong in Millions, and recurring parts in two Power Rangers series.

Amandola appeared in a few English language productions, including the 1989 film Queen of Hearts (directed by Jon Amiel) and episodes of Jute City (with John Sessions), Poirot (as the first secretary of an Italian embassy), and Rome.
